Darren

Looks good
What are the disks (how much)
Green stuff pads?
Hoses brand?
Are they the calipers you got powder coated?
All in all i'd say a good afternoons work.

Thats the job mate- tracking loads if disks on E bay- gonna do the same but wont be so pretty. Mine need doing bad!

hi
bought my hubs from usauto on ebay, something like £97.50 each, bought a pair and charged only 1 post and pack around £9.50
Gave them my VIN number for them to confirm correct hubs first.
Easy job to fit, did antiroll bar links at same time - rubbers shot to bits.

Hi fcat,

Very nice job.

I put new, standard, discs on mine about 3years ago with ford pads. Brakes still crap, felt very wooden.
Then I put some green pads on and noticed a slight improvement.

My brake pedal also has alot of travel. I've bled the brakes so many times with every device invented!!!

I've even tried adjusting the brake booster rod to take up a bit of play.
If I clamp off one of the front or rear hoses the brake pedal travel is how I would expect it to be.

How far down, in inches, can you press your brake pedal with the engine running?

Thanks, Kev.

Got the discs off ebay UK, £70 for the pair inc postage.

Yup green stuff pads.

Not sure on Hose make, got them from Rockauto in the US
Yeh these are the calipers i got powder coated.
Took me 2 hours for the first side and 1 hour for the second side!
Bought a pair of caliper rebuild kits from rock auto as well as new bleed screws off ebay UK.
Got the hubs off an ebay USA seller, $180 inc shipping for the pair. You can buy them on ebay UK for about £95 each.

My brakes feel a lot better stopping wise, my pedal always has had a lot of travel and i did think doing the above would make it far better however i was surprised it didnt alter much. not sure in inches how much travel there is but theres a touch more than i want/expected but the thing stops which is fine:) MOT next week so will see how it fairs but cant see any problems.

Ay up fcat,
Any chance you can tell me the part number for the caliper rebuild kit you had?
I've looked on their site and I am not sure which one to order.
Thanks, Kev.

Hi
Just waiting for my hubs from US bought from detroitaxle, just wondering if you purchased new spindle nuts as it is recommended they be replaced?
Also what torque setting did you use to tightened them?

thanks

I did, however, when they arrived they were too small!!! so i used the old ones, no problems at all, i just tightened them damn tight! have a 24" breaker bar and pretty much stood on it to get them tight!!(you'll need a good breaker bar to slacken them off aswell!)

did u get the dorman ones from autorock as thats what i've just purchased? Might need a better one than my halfords one!

I used an Halford one but was a 24" proffesioanl one.

i got these: RAYBESTOS 8164253 Axle Spindle Nut

but were too small

oh just checked and they were out of stock of the ones i ordered so actually replaced them with the doorman ones, they are too small!

I bought the ones above that listing, Will Ford still be able to get stock? Need a Gasket for a Idle Air Control Valve i've just bought too.

Just bought new front axle spindle nut or retainer as Ford call them from local Ford Parts part number 4659413 cost £5.25 + VAT
