- 2005 Explorer XLS V6 2WD
Everyone has told me that the best places to find info on my car is on the interner. When I bought the Explorer, I didn't realise I'd need help so soon.
I've had my truck less than a month now, and I already have 2 problems come up. First thing was my gas guage flatlined and the message center comes up "--- MILES TO EMPTY" followed shortly by the amber "Service Engine Soon" light. The problem is intermittant, usually after I fill up. The truck is a 2005 model, and just rolled 33,000 miles, so factory warranty has it covered. I'm told the fule pump needs to be replaced, and it will be soon.
Also, I went to clean the back window off, and when I rolled the switch, the wiper went up 1/4 of the way, then aimed itself straight down, and never came back. The dealer already replaced some part in the rear wiper motor, so it works now. I only hope this is not an omen of things to come.
My Explorer is a huge upgrade from the 98 Civic I traded in for it. I've been wanting a Ford truck for the longest time, so I finally have my wish. So far, I'm loving my truck. It drives and rides better than alot of my friends cars, plus I have plenty of room to haul what I need to.
I'll be posting later about mods/adds I would like to do if they are possible. I did find out one thing... 2005 Explorer ODBII can't be read at AutoZone. They told me '05 and newer MUST go to the dealer. I'm still trying to find a way around that one tho.
