I've got the same year and motor with a flowmaster 40 series. It's loud, go with the 50

ive got the 4.6 with the flowmaster 40 in my f150 and its real loud but i like loud. but i have 3 inch pipe from the cat back. keep stock size and go with the 50 series if you want it mellow

Muffler guy said I have 2 1/4 in & out and would be $150 for a 50 welded in. I can get a Magnaflow cat back with 2 1/2 pipe for $350 delivered so really curious if an extra 1/4 inch pipe is worth the $ and time for me to put in.

The 50 series your probably looking at is dual 2.25" in and single 2.5" The muffler shop could also make a new tail pipe out of 2.5", it would probably be about $90, at least that's what I paid for mine. So it would still be cheaper than the magnaflow.

Here's a link to my thread with an exhaust video so you can hear the 50 series, it's a lot deeper tone in person, but this will give you an idea.
