My buddy and I bent up some new dual 2.5" tailpipes with a Magnaflow Stailess Steel muffler (knockoff from swap meet vendor).

It sounds alot better then the Flowmaster did, definetly different.

You got a sound clip?

Not yet I'll try and get one tomorrow.

Will your spare tire fit up in there?

I removed and sold the spare tire winch to another member a while back. I haven't had a spare under he bed since I moved up to the 33" tires a couple years back.

Lookin puurrrty..

Can you explain to me the difference in tone/sound while driving over the Flowmaster? I have a dual 2.5" FM set up right now (exactly like yours) and have been back and forth about switching to Magnaflow for about a year now :p:

Granted, my 4.0 probably sounds a little different than yours, I'm just trying to get an idea..

EDIT -- man your setup resembles mine a lot.. lol great mind think alike!

Brandon, I had the Flowmaster on for about two and half years and it sounded pretty good but the huge difference in sound and performance really opened up when I installed the Stainless Steel Random Technology Y-Pipe and High Flow Cat (Huge Difference in sound and MPG/ Power). <--- Todd over at Zabteck sells these.

The muffler I installed is a stainless steel single 2.5" in/ Dual 2.5" out (was told by guy it's a MagnaFlow knockoff).

When you look inside the muffler it looks like the inside of a glasspack with all the small holes and it's straight thru, not sure what the iside of a MagnaFlow looks like.

It's quieter at idle then the Flowmaster but screams when you get on it and has more get up and go then the Flowmaster did. I'll have to find the sound clips I had from the Flowmaster and get some with the new exhaust.

The Flowmaster was a single 3" in/ dual 2.5" out so I think I lost some low end torque with the bigger inlet. I can feel it right off the line now.

Looks like they're all for the SportTrac, or SOHC 4.0 ... :/

Question, does the SportTrac 4.0 (I'm assuming yours is the SOHC 4.0) come with 4 cats? or 2? My OHV only has two after the y-pipe, on what I call the 'downpipe' for lack of better terms. I know magna flow makes a bolt-on replacement 'downpipe' with two high flow cats on it. Is something like that what you bought from Random Technology?

THIS is what I'm referring to from MagnaFlow

Yeah I have the Job 2 motor 4.0 V6 SOHC. The Y-Pipe from RT doesn't have any Pre-Cats on it but has the bungs for each O2 sensor. The High Flow Cat from RT only has the single Cat instead of two and the pipe after the Cat is 2.5" instead of the factory 2.25". I'd ask Todd if they fit your Ex, their the same design.

Sound clip son! :)

^ what he said!

Sorry guys, busy today. Hooked the Trac up to my custom trailer that I loaded with scrap, took that to the scrap yard for some needed money... made from a '98 S-10 ex cab parts truck I had...

Then took the Show Truck to a Custom Truck Show so I wasn't home at all today.

Nice job on the exhaust Jerry ! I just HATE exhaust work though. I'll pay someone else to do it!

Hey, if you took the motor and seats out of that red Chevy and welded a tongue onto it then you could have a bigger trailer!

Bwaaaaahaaaaa ! :bsnicker::shoot::chug::biggthump:D:D:D

Just kidding Jerry !

Yeah. I know it's only a 6.5" S-10 bed but I haul more then most would think with it. It was a parts truck I had and was left with the bed and rolling chassis.

I cut the frame right behind where the front seats would be, V'd the frame, welded everything together and made it completely Pa. street legal with converted trailer title, V.I.N. plate, safety cables, alnding gear, marker lights on front corners, etc.

I was one of the last to legally do this in Pa. because they outlawed doing this. wish it was a fullsize bed/ frame but hey, work with what you have, right.

Yeah, work with what ya have. I did the same thing with a 72 Datsun 520 pickup. I had the pickup and a matching bed style trailer. Looked pretty cool.......useless IMO but cool. It just didn't fit my needs.

If I ever need to can sell the S-10 rearend out of it and put a Caravan axle under there.

I use it all the time to haul evrything under the sun, a quad fits in there perfect with room to spare and you can fit two H.D. Soft Tails (one forward, one reverse) in there with the gate down, perfect for getting in and out of tight streets and great for offroading since it sits up higher then any utility trailer and has taller mud/ snow tires on it.
