New Explorer owner

Hello fellas, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Aaron and I just purchased my first SUV, a '93 XLT. I was able to haggle the guy down to $2000! This is a second vehicle for me that will be used mainly as a work truck. I've always owned cars and never a truck, so it is wild to actually have storage space.

I do have a question. I have read that the 5-speed manual is relatively scarce in general on these trucks, but even more so with the 4D versions. Is this true? Does anyone have an estimate on the percentage of Explorers that have manual transmissions?

Welcome to the site and nice purchase. The 5spd in the 4dr is a little more common than some might think. Definitely not as common as the auto but there are quite a few out there. Heck the creator of this site has a 93 XL 4dr 5spd.

On another note, before anyone rips you a new one, here is a tip for you while on this site so you won't get discouraged. Get familiar with the search feature. There are tons of threads pertaining to just about anything you can ask about any year Explorer. If you can't find it by all means ask away. Just wanted to let you know, there are a lot of people on here that will be quick to say SEARCH.
