New Explorer Owner

Hi, Folks. I'm new to this site, and may need some info from time to time. I plan to buy a used Explorer soon. I've found a 1999 XLT, with just about everything on it, including rear air. It has a 4.0 with 173,000 miles, but is in great shape inside & out. Very well taken care of. Runs great, drives & rides very well. Are there any potential issues I need to be on the lookout for? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to this forum! Does it have the OHV engine or the SOHC engine?

if you have the sohc you should be aware of potential timing chain problems.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. According to the CARFAX report, there has never been a timing chain repair mentioned.

yea if there hasnt, it probably wont be tooo long before you will hear the engine noise from the chain...

Hey, folks. It's been nearly a year since I last posted, and i have been driving the 99 trouble free so far. Changed the plugs & wires about 4 months ago, cleaned the throttle body, and it gained 1 1/2 mpg! Now, I have a buyer for it, but I have a few codes. They are0455, P0457, P0171, P0174, and P1443. Are these anything serious? Thanks in advance for any help.
