New Ford Pass App

Ford probably thought the old app gave a falsely positive impression of the whole Sync 3 experience so they released an update to correct that... Seriously though, if you look at the screenshots the old app used Here as the GIS provider while the new one uses Google Maps. The results should not be worse. I unfortunately let the app update as well, but my results appear to be better than yours and the map is not black.

I unfortunately let the app update as well, but my results appear to be better than yours and the map is not black.

I figured out why the map is black. I have always used dark mode with my phone. Ford Pass is the only app which has an issue with it. I switched out of dark mode and the proper map details are visible. PITA. Dark mode is much easier on my eyes. Ford should make the app play well with dark mode as all of my other 200+ app engineers have. On it's own the Google Maps app works fine in dark mode and it does not show black.
 






There is an option on the Android app to switch back to the old version (at least on mine there is)
Where, my phone updated and I hate the new version. I can't find an option or a button to revert back to the old version.

The latest version doesn't give you the ability to switch back. Not happy. :(

We should all give the app a terrible review on the app store! I gave it 1 star and wrote my complaint out.

FORDPASS 5.0 UPDATE FEATURES SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES


I don't know if this is the update that this thread refers to as no info was given regarding the revision number.

Thanks Peter, that is the new version. The version number is listed just below the Log Out option. I was checking my ESP warranty and is no longer an option in version 5.0. I also logged into Ford.com and went to my dashboard, no warranty options either, by account or VIN. I guess you have to ask your dealer to confirm coverage dates and details? Any other ways to check on-line?

I used to see it on the Ford Owner site and can no longer view dates and details.
 






And I'm not happy. The new version does not improve upon the app it actually took away features.

It seems to be missing:
Vehicle Health Reports
Referece Guide
Warranty
Schedule Service

When you switch back to the old version of the app it brings up a survey with a section where you can add comments. I told them that I wasn't happy with the missing features.
You are correct, Ford took something that worked and screwed it up. They are being slammed with low, one star ratings in the Apple Store reviews. About the only high ratings for version 5.0 are the new EV folks.
 






FordPass Ver 5.x does not allow user entry of Service History for self-service. To make matters worse the Owner Website displays an error when I tried over multiple days to enter self-service for the engine & cabin filters. Why did they remove features we use and rely on?

My takeaway is they are moving the app to a Connected Service and will charge us a monthly fee. Next big release will add back the useful features they removed and we'll be asked to pay for it..

That's why the CEO is excited to announce the new version. 💲

I have a case number. I have my service history. I have a pencil and paper and perhaps it's time to go with what works.

This is something I hadn't noticed. I have done all of the scheduled maintenance on my own and have been using the Fordpass App all along to record what I have done. They sure know how to mess up a good thing. :(

I posted a bad review on the Ford Pass App as many have done. Severl think we may see a fee based option to bring back what we had (Warranty Coverage, Vehicle Mileage, Self Service Entry, etc).

Just wrote my 2 cents! It's almost as if they want you to use Google maps to look at the location of your rig. I hate also I hate how you can't put your own service records in.
 






Is there a way to update the vehicle location? I really miss the update feature in the new version. Most of the other stuff seams to be there but several layer deep, as is the menu. I can understand why Ford would prohibit logging personal maintenance records, a lot of room for fraudulent entries.

The only thing I can think of is if you lock or unlock it, should update. It used to do that before, if you lock/unlock or started, you'd get updated.

Not by dragging down, or any other manual method that I have found. It just updates when it feels like it. LOL

The only thing I can think of is if you lock or unlock it, should update. It used to do that before, if you lock/unlock or started, you'd get updated.

Previously it would updated while in motion.
