How to: New Forscan Update Allows Module Programming

Prefix for threads which are instructional.
Hmm, not sure... Ours just has the "Information" with compass. Hopefully I can enable NAV pretty easily with FORScan, cable and SD card. :)

Next will be looking into how to add power lift gate. I know hardware will need to be purcahsed, so I'll need to find a parts list.

Would also like to add heated steering wheel.

When you get your SD card, plug that in first and find out what happens in the screen. I'm thinking that just maybe, you are simply missing the SD card and that your system is already set up for Nav. But, at this point, that just an uneducated guess because I don't know at what instance a limited would come without Nav as it seems to be a standard feature of that model.

I find it increasingly curious that many of the Limited and Sport models do not have features that I would have thought to be standard on those models that my '15 XLT has. While it's true that what I have on mine were added, optional features, some of the peripherals of those options such as the temp reading in the right instrument display are not enabled as standard on the higher end models. Power liftgate is not standard on a Limited?:confused2:

Thanks, I will check to see if my NAV is already enabled using FORScan. If so, then inserting SD card should do the trick.

I was also surprised that our Limited doesn't have some of the features that alot of the XLTs we looked at had. Ours has heated/cooled seats, as well as heated rear seats, but no power lift gate, no heated steering wheel and seemingly no NAV.

If it was equipped with Nav but was only missing the SD card the upper right corner would say "Insert SD Card" instead of "Navigation" or "Information".

I'd say this is correct.

According to https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt/, my as built details for 7D0-01-02 show NAV to be disabled.

7D0-01-02 000B 0004 9079

I also searched and my Explorer is running Sync v3.7 with no update available. Looks like I will also have to download and install v3.8 according to this procedure (from what I am reading the F150 NAV enable procedure is same for other platforms).

I believe that your only issue is the missing S/D card. Once you put that in your navigation should work. I would go back to the dealer and ask why it was missing as it should have been part of the vehicle.

Run your VIN using this link and it will tell you if Nav came with the vehicle. I don't see why it was disabled unless the previous owner played around with the software. https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRe...id=F1E9A428667736EF726204C0A146C488.eccvas505

There is something definitely not right here. My 2011 Limited came with Nav as standard. All info, brochure and Ford website shows Nav as standard. So why would it show as 'Disabled' as per the new owner???:dunno:

Very odd indeed. Thanks. Perhaps you a one of a kind.:)

I dont know about the States, but in Canada even on Limited trim level Navigation was never standard. I remember myself ordering MY12 Limited and I paid $700 that time for Navigation.

It is odd, but people updating their systems to 3.10 noticed the after-update message still says "Congrats, you updated to v3.8"
So. it might be just another build or programmers did not correct the message

Was able to finally try out forscan and make my first successful change: Adding Heating/Cooled Seat Icons and Heated Steering wheel on the home and climate screen.

APIM 7D0-01-01 xxxx xxxx x6xx

Unfortunately, the concurrent brights/fogs did not work for me. I did find a different value to change and try again.

*edit*

Is there a way to "load" the backup files into forscan so I can review the code values on my desktop or do I need to be connected via the cable in order to be able to view them?

What else is needed to add heated steering wheel? I assume a new steering wheel with heated element as well as heated steering wheel module.

I got my Sync upgraded to v3.8 as well as the NAV update per the instructions. Just waiting on my cable and NAV SD card to see if I can get NAV functioning.

I already had the option in my Sport, I just added the toggle option to the sync homescreen.

That seems strange. Is this an Explorer Limited 2016? Go to your dealer because I feel like you got ripped off and tell them features are missing.

Build sheet shows "Less NAV."

If I can add it with Forscan and a few minutes of work, I will be happy. I also replied to your thread on the Forscan website regarding heated/cooled seats.

From the posts on this topic, apparently, the standard Nav option is 'country specific'. In the US, you get Nav standard in the Limited. In Canada, it is not standard in the Limited. What's not specific is the reason this situation exist.

Sorry if this has been posted already didn't read thru pages in this thread, and most probably know and have installed already. FORScan has new software 2.3.8. beta, downloading this ware doesn't effect any settings or the Extended License and when you download the latest version it will automatically remove 2.3.7. beta or older versions.
