Just started hearing this noise coming from the front end recently. Think it's towards the passenger side but not sure. It's kinda hard to explain but it sounds like a mix of a creeking and grinding noise (more of a creeking) when the brakes are applied while turning the wheels slightly when driving slowly.
Any ideas, anyone had this? Possibly brakes/caliper? Wouldn't be ball joints would it? Ball joints and tie rods/steering linkage get greased regularly. No noises without brakes on or when going over bumps.
Thanks for the input!

I would probably start by inspecting the brake pads/rotors/drums/shoes.

I would just pull that side down and have a look. Its quick and easy so its better to do that than have something go horribly wrong.

If it quacks like a duck...

I own a 1994 explorer sport and the front brakes on this model are notorious for problems!
I would start by having your brakes checked (Rotors are usually fried)
Also the front wheel bearings have issues, what sounds like it's coming from the right side is often the left side problem???

Well, pulled off both front tires yesterday and tooke a look around. Rotors seem okay, lots of pad left, they don't seem to be cracked. Ball joints are solid with no play and tie rods are tight.
The only thing I can think of is that the calipers are slowly starting to crap out. The slid pins aren't greased really and the calipers look to be original Ford ones. Would they make noise when they are starting to cease up? Anyone had any similar noises to this?
