I just picked up a 1995 E.B...4.0 auto 4x4, from a friend of mine. I bought it as a second vehicle. A few weeks ago I did a complete break job for him (all 4)....

He calls me up the other day says it wont start, and he dont want it anymore lol...(hes not a guy who likes to turn a wrench, nor knows how)

So knowing that the truck was fairly kept up on (ive done most of his odds and ends the last couple years) I offered him $500...He said "come pick it up Saturday" LOL

Ive always been a ford guy at heart, (built a couple of nine second Notchbacks) and that was a blast;).....

Im thinking its either a fuel pump, relay, inertia switch, or crank sensor....It was running pretty sweet before hand.....

I bought the Wife a Ford Probe GT years ago, and it was the inertia switch that was always a problem LOL:D

Shes got a lil rot on the Passenger side rockers...I might just cut them out and weld in new ones.......

Im going to pick it up Saturday, and give it the run down. I want to just get her back up and running before I cut, weld, lift, etc.....Im sure you all know the routine:thumbsup:

I figure I will see if theres a check engine light.

Plug in my reader. See what codes if any

Listen for the fuel pump

Check relays

Check inertia switch

What do ya guys think? Is that a good run down to start off with.....Sorry so long winded but Im excited with the new toy .........Catch ya guys later

Proly a "steal" at 500 bucks, unless it has a million miles on it..........

You sound as though you have a solid "handle" on figgerin' it out; got fuel?, got spark?, etc.

'95 was last year without OBD-II level certification, maybe a plus for you, less bickering with diagnostics all the time......

Our first Expl. was a '96. It kept telling us "right bank catalytic threshold" every few weeks, no big thing, erased DTCs, it always ran like a top, OHV
V-6, no fancy chains yet........imp

IMP,
Shes got 150k. from what Im reading 95 is a "*******" year LOL.....I have strong feelings that it should be something minor. I will hash it out Saturday.....and I will post pics of anything I do.

Forums like this are a huge help for us DIY kinda people............Thanks again:thumbsup:

had a no start/sputter out and die problem with mine. just a piece of advice, even if you hear the fuel pump, check the fuel pressure also. i kept avoiding the fuel pump because it ran every time i turned the key but tuns out it was only putting out 10 psi of pressure. wish i checked the pressure earlier in the job, could have saved some money and time on other parts i probably didn't need.

Well, its been a while. I actually got around checking things today. ( I started a new job and havent had much time to get some things done.....LONG Commute LOL)

I replaced all the FUEL related fuses and relays........NO GO.....

Inertia switch not TRIPPED

I get no pressure at the Schrader valve..........

Im going to go out on a limb and say its The Fuel Pump;).....

What do you guys think? Id like to cut the access panel in the morning with my air chisel, then go pick a pump up.....

I guess auto zone would be the cheapest, I think it was $105 for a fuel pump kit......A local Bone yard had a low mile pump for $50.......Not sure which would be better.

AUTOZONE China parts, or used OEM........

Thanks for any input:thumbsup::exp:
