1997 explorer limited
My apologies for not being more clear. I bought a 1997 Explorer limited 5.0 automatic AWD last night. When I use the right turn signal the brake lights will flash along with the turn signal. Left turn signal doesn't do it, just the right. I am also curious how good the AWD system is in terms of reliability. Thanks guys!

For what information you're trying to get be more descriptive
we know you have awd and a 5.0 but is it a mounty or explorer
tcase? things like that help

Sorry guys hopefully I updated appropriately!

I didn't thing there was a difference between the explorer or mountaineer t case, that they only difference was badging. But as far as the problem your haveing it sounds like there is a wiring problem. Pop the tail light off, two screws and pull strait out. See if there is a hack job, if not its time to trace wires. The awd t case from what I hear is pretty good minus the 4 low ability. As long as you keep same size tires on it for proper function.

You might also check to see if P O put one of those direct plug in trailer light pigtails on. Mine had one on it when I got it, it was all corroded and wasn't working on trailer correctly.

As far as reliability, I absolutely love mine. The Christmas/New Years blizzard that dumped 16" here in town was NO MATCH. Powered right through it like a trooper. In fact I'm so happy with mine, I'm currently looking for another V8 AWD for my son.

Sounds to me that on one of the double filament bulbs that one of the filaments have burned and shorted out to the other one causing feedback.
