new guy blacked out 98

hey guys my names bobby and im just here helping a friend out my buddy johns got a 98 5.0 all black that we are just looking to mess around with and not spend too much money, right now we are in the process of painting the stock wheels, front grille, and front and rear bumpers black, tinting the front 2 windows 20% because i believe thats what the rest of the windows are, also just ordered a cheapo intake from ebay and a clear corner set and the upper billet grille. also, headlight and taillight covers are in the near future.

anyways, just looking for any tips for some nice mods cheap.

i have a flow 40 i was gunna put on but then i saw that terrible gigantic muffler with two inlets... anyways, whats the cheapest was to go about getting this truck louder? punching out the last cats? i know i can do that without triggering a code so thats definetly in the works.

also, next week we are planning the reverse torsion twist.

and as far as maintenance goes it seems good, but does have 130k and AWD, so should we be cautious of tranny issues in the future?

any other tips are helpful. we plan on blacking out the whole truck pretty much.

one other thing, is the fog light on the explorer an 880?

Congrats on the 98. I wouldn't worry too much about the trans...transfer case maybe not the trans. Engine is bulletproof too.

well when i first posted this the truck was stock.

as of today, we painted 2 of the wheels (looks great!) and are going to do the other two tommorow.

my buddy who owns the explorer has lost his license for 1 month so we are hoping to do quite a few things in his down time!

i had the idea today, still not sure if we are going to do it, but i want to tape off the small lip on the stock wheels and paint it red, its small and subtle but i think it would be great.

probably going to tint tommorow as well and then practice some welding....

definetly going to gut rear cats, add a flowmaster and give it a side pipe.

btw anyone from mass know if its legal to have the pipe infront of the back wheel?
