Hey guys I just bought a 97 2wd ranger for a daily driver. I came across this site looking for help as to why that stupid chime is always going and I searched many times but no one seems to have a simialar prblem as me. Whenever I put the key in the ignition it chimes lights off doors closed. also my dome light doesn't work correctly its always on. The only way to shut it off is to put the switch half way between the on/off positons.I would tend to think it's a problem with the door switch but A. I can't find it and B. there is no door ajar light or anything on the dash. Also I already messed with the blue clip on the ignition with no luck that is working correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Cody

you are going to love this...do you have any wd40 or something similar...roll up your windows...shut the door and from the outside lift your outside door handle...take the straw and spray into where the handle goes thru the door...do this to both holes on both doors and you don't need much...lift the handles 2-3 times each and let the wd40 do it's job....trust me, it's the official fix and it works most every time...let me know how you did....

this is the greatest place or what???? lmao....i about went crazy trying to figure mine out cause it would only happen once in a blue moon...i'm glad it helped and don't be afraid to use search for anything on here....:D

you are going to love this...

That is freakin awesome, you are right, I do love it. That same problem has bothered me for some time and at another place I was told to spend quite a bit of money if I really wanted to fix it.
You guys are awesome!!

it seems to earn more value if you have spent countless hours by trying to find the stupid door light pins, checked all fuses and start looking for inline fuses, reading both the chiltons and haynes books, trying to find electrical schematics, and going to ford's part dept and having them tell you they can sell you a part but you have to bring it in to them first, lmao...

thats how i wound up here, that and no horn working and that was as much fun to find...i'm glad to be of service...:D
