Hey there
Im Matt. Im a newbie. i have a 99 xlt. nothing really done to it yet cause im in college and have no money. WHat I want to do it is 3" lift, tint the front windows to match the back, eith magnaflow or flowmaster exhaust system, a sound system, new hood, new lights, and new paint job.

But i want the lift first so my question is what is a good quality lift without paying a crap load of money? Im kinda in debt already and i dont have the money to go all out.

Any ideas and suggestions would be great.

Thanks
MAtt

Welcome aboard

You might find that the factory tint might be hard to match, since its sprayed onto the glass. Be sure to check out all our threads in our club. We have done alot of runs, with great pictures.

Before lifting any vehicle you'll need to ask yourself the purpose of the lift (are you lifting it for looks, better off-road performance, or both)? What kind of off-roading will the vehicle see (trail riding, mud, rock crawling), how much time will be spent on road and off?

There are various ways to lift your vehicle, but you'd need to visit the other forums on this site that are dedicated to modified Explorers.

hey Matt welcome!!

Just for some info.
I have 2 97 ex's one sport and one xlt
I just lifted my sport. I did a 2" Torsion Bar Twist in the front and i purchased some generic leaf spring hanger for the back "2.
I have been able to fit 31's on it and all i really had to do was remove my front mudflaps and i have to fix the front bumper where a previous owner had pushed it in a bit in a fender bender.

There are some options for lifting you vehicle but as John said above you have to look at the reason for lifting and take a little time seaching around the site to see what others have done that you may like!

Welcome again!

Welcome to our happy family Matt...enjoy

well i want it for looks and for off road, just trail riding though. nothing to big that i would get my self in trouble. i would be driving on the roads a lot cause im going to be working in boston soon.

First I would like to say Hello....Just bought a 2005 Explorer 4.6 with all the toys and have been enjoying the ride. The V8 really does help the 6000lbs move. I'm located in Ma down by the RI line.
Would like to know what kind of events you guys do?

Ron

Welcome Ron.. Sorry for the delay (work has been killer the past few weeks). You can browse through the various threads on our New England Explorer forum and get a feel for what we do.. I put together some quick highlights from past events and club get togethers:
