'04 NBX
Hey all, I just bought a used '04 NBX with just under 64K on the 4.0 liter V6. The service engine soon light just came on. Does anyone know if this is do to a factory required service that is coming up? The truck didn't come with an owners manual or service schedule.

Also does anyone know if this 4.0 is the same that I had in my '05 Mustang? and if the tunes I have in my SCT hand held can be loaded into this motor?

Thanks!

The 'service engine soon' light is on because the pcm has detected a problem. Take it to Autozone and they will read the codes for free. Once you get the codes post them here and we will try to help you fix the problem.

I am not sure if the tunes from the Mustang will work with the Explorer.

Most auto parts store will pull the codes for free, just don't let them sell you any parts until you do some research here on the forum.

It's the same motor with some minor differences. I wouldn't run the mustangs tunes on the explorer though, the tune will be a lot different for the explorer.

Nice Truck! Welcome. Dosn't the SCT read codes? Anyways i thought there was a way to pull codes through the Odometer, or Message Ctr. If i find the thread i'll post it, it was here a week or so ago.
doubt the map/tunes would work, they are specfic to the year, model, enigne, Axle, Tire's, and more . . .

Most of the time when a check engine, or service engine soon light comes on it is the 02 sensors. There are 4 of them, but chances are just the two front ones go bad. The two before the catalytic converter.

That's a very broad statement. Do you sell O2 sensors by chance?

I have been explorer owner for 2 weeks now and the "Service Engine Soon" light is on:mad: Does it turns on when its time to change oil or not? Just that the light is on and its time to change oil as well. So now i dont know is the light on because of the need of new oil or is it something else wrong?

you can reset the light by disconnecting the neg terminal, but if there is still a problem the light will just resurface.

have the codes read, and repair as neccessary.
