Hello all!
I recently picked up a 1998 AWD 5.0 model that's been in my family for years as a boat pulling/woods truck in north FL. It's been in a few wrecks (parents let my sister drive it for a bit) but is in great mechanical shape (115k miles). I'm looking to fix her up into a proper daily driver and have already found a wealth of information here, so I thought I'd join in!
I've already ordered some Rancho's (front shocks are toast) and the Warrior shackles to lift it... next up is finding replacement body panels and some decent all terrains. Not sure how good off-road the AWD will be (vs. 4x4) but the price was right (free) and I was tired of my truck payment (came from an 08 tacoma).
This is my 2nd explorer, my first being a 96 4.0 2wd 5 years ago, and my 2nd 5.0 engine (had a 93 mustang track toy for a bit).
Looking forward to contributing to the community!
