Howdy, I am new to the Explorer forum.
My wife has a 2004 Explorer 4x4. With the economy as it is, cost of parts and labor these days I'm finding myself more involved with the maint of our vehicles again.
I found this forum Googling for opinions on parts, sources, and tips. I decided to join after reading some of the commentary by "the grizzled old veterans", which I found to be quite informative and actually funny in a couple cases (good senses of humor in your group

I'm "chipping away" at the "60k service" as we've recently driven thru that milestone. Last weekend I replaced the brake fluid, prior to that filters (air/oil), oil, etc.. Today will be the fuel filter. I'm looking to find opinions on which parts for general maint items HAVE to be OEM verses after-market. Our other vehicle is a Nissan, and they are very fussy for OEM on some parts and on other parts it's no big deal.
I hope to be a worthwhile contributer to your forum.
