I recently heard the new improved 8.8 ARB is now available. Can anyone else confirm this.

Thanks,

Charly

I'm number 228 in the line of people to receive one (seriously!). I'll let you know when Ir eceive mine. I'mt old most of those waiting for them now are not purchasing them but rather people that are getting them due to outstanding warranty claims (such as mine)

Eh? Whats this about? explain?

For many months now ARB has been redsigning the air locker for the 8.8. it was supposed to be out months ago, but I'm just hearing the are becoming available.

Apparently the redesign makes them stronger (side gears, and more) as well as taking care of some of the leak issues. The redesign technology will be used to make the whole air locker line stronger and more reliable.

It is reported to be a MAJOR improvement.

I hope that answers your question.

Charly

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!

It's here and my gear guy has it. The truck will go in next week to have the gears and my new ARB put in!

Ray,
How much is the ARB, COMPRESSOR, AND LABOR COST???
I am looking at putting in a locker, but the guy at the 4x4 shop doesn't really like ARB's. He is more of a Detroit guy I guess. He said a ARB works good when it works, but has seen to many things go wrong. He is a hard core four wheeler.
I am looking at the Powertrax no-slip.

Perry, that opinion may simply be a function of where you live. On our CO run, Rick had a malfunction trying to scale Poughkeepsie Gulch and Ray Hutchinson had trouble at the same place. Neither one could get their lockers to engage.

We were at what there, 12,500-13,000+ ft? Since ARB's rely on air pressure, maybe they fail at high altitude? Just a question; I don't know.... I heard Ray's compressor pumping the whole time we were at that obstacle and as far as I know it still did not build enough pressure to ever engage.

I'm doing the Powertrax No-Slip. This is gonna be fun.

ARB's are good until the dang air line fails. Which at that point you have no spool. :) When its there and engaged it works great! I can't complain about mine anyway. Other then it being just like your 4x4 guy said a royal pia at times. It leaks oil out the air line when my diff gets to hot it leaks oil out of the vent line also. That is normal from all of the people that I have talked to who run these things. If I do it again, I will go with a detroit. I don't care what people say about running it on ice and snow, I have run around with the ARB engaged on the street without to many quirks. Its locked up tighter then a detroit too! :)

The Electic locker that comes stock in Yotas seems to me, to be a better idea. Heck even Detroit just came out with one. If you rip a electric line its a hell of a lot easier to repair then a air line.

GJarrett? About how much are you paying for your Powertrax? And where here in Dallas is doing the install. I am fixing to get my new gears and locker so I am in the same boat..

Aren't the powertrax lockers made by Lock Right? I though I saw And ad for a powertrax lock right...Is there any truth to this? If so, is there a difference or when someone says im getting a lock right vs. im getting a powertrax, is there a difference?
Thanks,
Pete
I've seemed to notice, this topic is one of, if not the most confusing topic on the bored!

Detroit Electric? What's this? I haven't heard of that one.

Powertrax. Okay. I'll try to make it clear. Powertrax is the company. It makes two different lockers. One locker is called the Lock Rite and the other is called the No-Slip.

Brian, West Coast differentials gave me the best price ($406) but Perry may have found an even better deal in CO. I'm calling them this afternoon to research. We talked about this on the other thread. Check it out.

Good luck Gerald,
I thought you as being more the computer (NERD) kind of guy not a mechanic. LOL
I would put my own in, but I am adding the gears at the same time, so the 4x4 shop will do it all at the same time.

I'd also like to hear about this new one from Detriot.

Perry, do you think a NERD would ever have problems with Herculiner?

Perry,
I'm having gears and the back locker being done at the same time. The whole thing is gonna cost me $1500.00

Okay, now that I understand that, what is the difference between the No-Slip and Lock Right...I understand the Lock Right is a full time locker...In another locker thread I posted priced from either National Wheel and Tire Or 4 Wheel Parts just so y'all know.
Thanks
Pete
