I cant believe i put out almost $200 for a filter, that's basicly all you get with this kit!

A filter, hose clamps, and some screws.

Oh and i thought the kit i picked up also came with a intake tube, it didnt.

if you havent really used it yet, return it and get a kkm (same thing) for $90 :) also, shortly kkm will be selling an intake tube as well.

Just make your own Intake, a lot cheaper. I just went down to Autozone and picked up a filter for like $25 bucks, went to an exhuast shop picked up a wee bit of metal, and bam...

The KN gen I kit is tubeless, while their gen II FIPK includes the tube. Though a new intake tube wont really help you out in terms of performance.

One of the reasons the kit costs so much is that it's CARB certified, while many other brands aren't.

I understand i dont really need a new intake tube, i was just under the impression that the kit indeed come with one! No big deal really.

I didnt install everthing yet, it's bitter cold outside. :(

I guess i'll just deal with the price and hope im impressed with the performance!?

Like someone else said, the $90 KKM kit is basically the same thing, the only difference being that it's not officially emissions legal.

i know, its just as cold here as where you are ;)

trust me, dont install the rest. return it and get a kkm - same thing, $110 cheaper. youre not gonna see much performance out of this thing (either one), so dont expect to be pleasantly surprised, thinking that $200 wasnt that bad for what you get out of it.

whats in this kit that makes it so much more than the $40 k&n filter?

I dont think anything.

No matter what filter you get, if you dont have any other engine mods, your going to hardly going to notice any increase in performance unless your old filter had 1/4" of crud on it.

true, but its a good place to start.

Yes, it is a good place to start. However I think people get it because it advertises 10-15hp gain, instead of something that will enhance future engine mods.

Yeah, but i have other mods done, and plan to contiue modding my truck.

Next is a performance chip, maybe the Apten Chip? Not sure yet, i would like to see more results from guys with my year truck.
