hey guys my name is dan aka tank. just bought my first ford (was born and raised chevy) but i bought my self a '96 ford explorer xlt 4.0 v6 automatic 2 wheel drive, green, with gray leather, sun roof and the 6 cd charger in the center console..got her for $1200 so cant complain. altho n the drive home the cel came on and it threw the p0153 and p0133 02 sensor codes and after that the transmission was shiftting hard and slipping really really badly so any help on that would be great. i all ready searched the codes and it sounds like both 02 sensors have failed. (the truck has 284k on the odometer so not surprised lol).

but all in all im happy and the truck looks *****in in my opinion.

Dan,
I just joined the forum and just bought my first explorer. It too has a couple of issues but for. The sum of 800 bucks I can't complain. My explo has 172k miles, had new tires, brakes, rebuilt tranny.

Now I just need to figure out the abs light and passenger airbag light coming on and fix the pdl for the drivers door.

02 sensors were a surprisingly easy fix...well minus the passenger side (which is the longer wired one) plug in up on the side/top of the tranny bell housing so for a guy with big hands like my self (im 6'2 and 3bills) it was a "origami" hand session to say the least. however the tranny went out on me yesterday and i have no forward gears and only reverse..any suggestion guys?
