I had some Xenons in my truck before, Obviously some crappy ones because they burnt out after 4 months..well one of them did.

Went to buy some PIAA Super White Platinum 65/45 bulbs that SUPPOSEDLY perform like 110/85 bulbs using some new technology.

First off, the color isnt even remotely close to my previous xenons... the Xenons look bluish white, these HID like bulbs are basically $70 Sylvania Halogens, and according to both my brother and my dad, not a damn bit brighter... Im sooooo pissed

Return em!

I had gotten some PIAA headlight bulbs before and they sucked so I returned them and told the guy the sucked. He didn't give me a hard time :-) get Eurolight bulbs, I have found they seem to be the best of what I have seen on the cheaper side.

PIAA's

A Xenon is a Xenon whether it's made by John's Lightbulb CO or PIAA.

You are better off with the cheap ones.

I agree, PIAA's are way over priced. A friend bought some PIAA driving lights and they were garbage. He was disappointed and so was I and I didn't even buy them.

Personally I love Eurolite.

The guy at the truck store I always go to tried to sell me some PIAA headlight bulbs, I saw they were $90 and I basically laughed at him for about 5-7 minutes.

Well, hate to break it to you, but you have no reason to be pissed off because of that. Why?
1. they're not supposed to look blue, they're supposed to look white
2. they're not supposed to be like HIDs
3. not brighter? try driving in the rain with them, then let us know what you find out
4. they cost more because they are better quality, DOT approved, brighter than stock, and won't blow out after 4 months

Just wait until Matt gets ahold of this thread.

yup i agree....under normal conditions they look the same....but when you are the only car at 23:00 in a one lane canyon in the rain everynight then they really kick butt.... i had them before i totalled my X....and must say they were wonderful lights....but i do also think they are overpriced

I think they're overpriced, and are not worth it.

I can achieve ALL the the bluish white light I need with my Eurolite headlight/foglight bulb combination. I'd say about $45 total for the headlight and foglight bulbs. And you can take THAT to the bank ;) :p

1) my friend said that cars like BMWs arent blue lights.. they are white lights, the only reason they look blue is because BMW tints their lenses very slightly.. anyone know if this is true???

2) Its raining tonite.

3) Ill shan the box cover. Then PIAA should at least take off their false advertising.. exact words off the box

"Brilliant H.I.D. color"
"65/45W Xtra"
"Performs like a 110/85 watt bulb"

I'll second that.

Fine..You HATE PIAA.....

Who cares? A lot of us like them..... Deal with it....

I don't hate them persay, I'm sure the 4x4 guys with the PIAA's on their lightbars are very pleased, I'm saying their bulbs aren't very good.

The HID light is white. The only reason they look blue/purple from a distance/certain angle is because of the headlight housing. There's no tint

Don't expect to get much light from those HID knockoffs.

they may have been knock off PIAA's

cuz there is a little Rice stand at the mall here, and they had some "PIAA" bulbs, 90 bucks, said the exact same thing your box said. i looked closer, and they were NOT PIAA's, they were Sylvania Cool Blue's with some knock off PIAA glass over them.

i got my PIAA's about a month ago or so, and they are by far the greatest lights i have ever owned.

i have a pic of my previous Krypton bulbs (www.angelfire.com/dc/ozone/truck/MAVICA.HTM) and those were fairly bright as well.

PIAA's are very over priced, but they are amazingly good, and if i decide to get the Explorer, im getting PIAA headlights, foglights and other assorted PIAA lighting fixtures.

Also, another reason HIDs and the white HID alikes look blue is that we're used to seeing yellow tinted lights. Even halogen bulbs have a yellow tint. There aren't many lights out there that are a true white, so when we see them our eyes color-shift a little to blue.

No one asked you to care. In fact, no one even asked you if you did care. If you don't care, then don't read/reply to this post.

As for a lot of you liking them... FINE... you LIKE PIAA.... Who cares?

and I thank you for the advice, I'm going to try to deal with it... one day at a time. Kind of like a 12 step program for crappy lights.

pretty sure they arent knock offs. This place is one of the largest electronics stores in the state, and probably the midwest. They've been around for about 60 years now, and im pretty sure they didnt get to teh top from selling knock off bulbs. I guess its just preference
