I have been wanting to get a bigger MAS, but I read somewhere the other day that if you have a new chip and get a new MAS that you would have to have it re-programmed to compensate for the increased air flow. Anyone know of this? I do not want to have to send my chip back to have it re-programmed.

You don't necessarily need your chip reprogged. You do however need calibrated electronics for the MAS.

i the only time you have to have it reprogramed is when you are using a mass air that is not the correct calibration for your truck. like using a mark VIII mass air or lighting mass air.

So a 66 or 70mm, not sure what size, would be fine without having the chip redone?

As long as the electrics on the MAS know it's a 70mm Explorer MAS (66mm is a TB size).

I'm awful at keeping numbers where they need to be. Wouldn't the sensor on the new MAS tell computer what it needed to know?

yup, as long as you buy one meant for the X with the stock 19# injectors. IMO you have to make sure what you're buying cause if it's not right it wont work.

Alright cool, I'll be sure to ask some questions before I buy. Thanks for the info!
