Hello everyone,

I just wanted to take a second and introduce myself, My name is Tim, and I just recieved a 94 Explorer 2 door 5spd 2WD as a gift. I have been looking over this site for a while now, and was waiting untill I actually took possession of the vehicle before joining.

I am 27 years old, and I am an Automotive Service Technician by trade, although I have been out of work since May 15th and will continue to be out of work until Aug 15th, or whenever I can get "medically released" to return to work. On May 15th I broke my neck, more specifically I fractured My C-1, which, for those of you that don't know, it the very top vertebra in your neck, right before it meets your brain/ skull. I was placed in a neck brace and told to wear it until Aug 15th. Enough about that...

I could go into much more detail, but I really doubt any of you want to hear my life story, LOL.

If you really want more details, ask away, I have nothing to hide...

Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Tim

Welcome to the site Tim, glad to hear you are still with us. It's my understanding that most people don't make out too well when they break their C-1...

Congrads on the new 'sploder. I'm sure you will have lots of fun with it.

Wood.

Good luck on recovery.

It's amazing that 20 years ago the prognosis would've been horrible, and today they say that in just 3 months you can be healed and go to work!

Just out of curiousity, because I did a huge project when I was in high school on the spine, did you / are you experiencing any loss of movement? I'd imagine if it's just bone you should be pretty good, as long as the cord wasn't hit. Just curious...

But anyways, welcome to Explorer Forum! It gets addicting REAL quick, so get ready!

Thanks, to both of you, LMAO

As far as my neck goes, I agree with you both that I was very lucky. I am completely new to the Ford game, so even though I have 15 years experience, I'm sure I will be a regular poster on this forum.

I am gonna have to replace the water pump and thermostat, so, I was thinking I would take step by step pictures and write up a "How-to" on both of them, as I noticed you guys don't have too many of those on this forum. I did a search first, and the only "how-to" I cam across for the water pump, was just someone saying "it's easy, oh, go rent you a ford fan tool"

I found that to be a bit humorous...

Anyway, like I said, I am more of a 4 cylinder guy, and hard core into Hondas, so, this will be quite an adventure for me LOL I am not planning on going crazy with the mods or upgrades, but, you know how it is, "boys and their toys"

The funny thing is, I was originally planning on fixing it, and putting it up for sale just as soon as I got back to work, but, now that I have it, I may just keep it for a while... I'm still going to be on the lookout for another 5 speed honda, but, I'm in no rush to get rid of the exploder just yet.

Thanks, to both of you (I can't get over that, sorry, it's funny to me)
Tim

Thanks to you too BrooklynBay, and no worries, I am "fine" I am sooo ready to go back to work, although, I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna go back to the shop...

For starters, "My" shop is in Nashville Tennessee, and I am now Living in Titusville Florida, 735 miles away LMAO, so, I am going to have to transfer, Plus, I've been working on my mothers BFs Toyota pickup, "rebuilding" his 22RE (Head gasket and Timing chain) and that has taken almost a month, so I am just way too slow, and In way too much pain to go back to doing it professionally, I will definitely be working in a shop again, but I don't think I'm quite ready to go back yet.

The yoda has all but burned me out, I am still looking forward to having fun working on the exploder, but, I am not going to get into anything to major with it either.

Tim

welcome tim

Welcome To Explorer Forum! I'm Honda at heart. But I bleed FORD blue

Welcome To Explorer Forum! I'm Honda at heart. But I bleed FORD blue

This is only an attempt to be funny, so I really hope I don't get flamed for this.....

You bleed blue???

You should probably check your oxygen level,

I bleed Type R Red!!!

LMAO

I kid, I kid:D:D:D

Water Pump

Hey guys, I just finished flushing the cooling system, and am about to replace the water pump and thermostat.....

Like I said before, I am gonna take a bunch of pictures, and attempt a "how-to" if I can figure out where and how to post the pics on this forum.

I'll be back later today to post it up, and also if I run into any problems.

Thanks guys!!

Tim

The only way to post a picture directly onto the forum is to get an elite membership. The other option is to get a Photobucket account, and link the pictures like this:

I appreciate the info bud, but, it's a no go on the pics anyway, the digi is being gay :(

But, like I said, thanks anyway,
Tim

There are a couple of ways to get pictures into digital form without a digital camera. You could scan regular pictures onto your computer or tell the place which develops your pictures to put them onto a CD for you.
