2011 XLT
Hello all-

I just got back from the dealership with my new 2011 Explorer XLT.
It's a rapid spec 202a with White Suede ext and tan int. I absolutely love it. So many tech gizmos! :D

Can't wait for this 2011 forum to start filling out. I'm looking forward to learning from and sharing with all of you!

Welcome to the forum! Be sure to post some pics of your new Ex!

lobuzz, where did you buy from/area you from? You don't have to get too specific, general is fine. Trying to do the "where the @#%^ is my Explorer" math :)

I'm in Central California. It was the first & only 2011 that the dealer in my town has gotten. Apparently there are more on order, but they were not sure when those might be coming in.

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the availability out here. There were just a few available at the nearest 10 dealerships, and it wasn't even in the biggest cities... go figure.

I've got to say, though... I'm pretty damn excited about it. I'm the first person in town to have one! :)

Congrats, being the first on your block is fun.

Congrats on the new Ex. Waiting for the pics.................

Sorry for the delay... :p:

Some of the pictures are pretty crappy... I can take some better ones when I get home.

Nice Explorer, you got that thing loaded. Those touch sensitive controls for the A/C are pretty dang annoying, though.

Congrats on being the first EF member to take possession of an '11 Explorer!

For that distinction I have set you up with a 6 month "Elite Explorer" membership. You can find details about the membership benefits here: http://www.explorer4x4.com/elite.html

Enjoy your new ride!!

that is hella sweet man!

 Awesome, simply awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! Congrats on your new ride... That's the color I'm ordering in the spring...

You know, I've found the "hard" touch controls to be pretty good. Once you figure out where it wants you to touch, it works without a hitch. The controls on the screen are a bit wonky, and sometimes delay more than I'd like, but I'm sure they've got Sync / MyFord Touch updates in the works.
All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the control scheme.

The only "problem" is the info overload. With the nav screen & the dual screens on the side of the speedo, it's almost giving you access to too much information. My wife wasn't too happy with my playing with it while driving around. "Pay attention to the road!!!" :nono: :D

WOW! That's awesome... THANKS!!! :D :D :D

Congratulations on your new ride! Looks great. I have the Limited on order in what they call White Platinum Metallic with Medium Light Stone interior.
Question, if yours has daytime running lights, which lights are used? The headlights or the parking lights?

I didn't have much time with it, but I just feel like they made it clunkier (the controls) than it needed to be. It is pretty simplistic, it just takes longer than a classic dial. The MyFord Touch stuff is pretty dang cool, though, even if it is a lot to think about. I bet it's fun being one of the few with the new Explorer. :p:

Thanks! Mine does not have DRLs, so I'm not sure which bulb they would use. My guess would be the headlight in a lower output mode...

Your Explorer looks great! Congrats! LOVE the White Suede. The contrast with the windows and the chrome is awesome! Enjoy!
