Hello everyone. I just purchased my first Explorer, an 01 Sport. I will post pics when I have a chance to get them, but for the moment I have a very very stupid question (and yes I am going to search while awaiting answers). I need to haul some things tomorrow, and I can't seem to figure out how to get the headrests to go down on my rear seats so I can lay them flat. I know, I feel retarded asking this, but HOW THE HELL DO I GET THEM TO GO DOWN?? I've spent the last hour pushing on them and trying every thing I can short of riping the leather off of the seat back to find out how they work. PLEASE HELP THE MENTALY CHALLANGED! Thanks :)

Is there not a button at the top of the seat back to push in? I'm gonna go check my 98 Sport for you. Should be the same, maybe.

No button, and so far I've found 1 post that suggests brute force pushing it down. There has to be another way.

Sorry bro, my 98 Sport just pull up and push down.

Well I decided to go with the brute force, and it worked. Defintly need to find a way to lube them though. Thanks for looking into it for me though. I have a few pics, just have to figure out how to post them.

I know in my 2001 F350 leather seats, you push the rods on the headrest together and they release.

i had one stuck one when I bought it...forced it down eventually.. I fI was supposed ot push the rods together, I didnt know

welcome and u can get an account with photobucket and it gives u a code and u can and copy and paste the code and the pics will show up on here.

You've got to use a little force with them.

It's kinda funny, I usually just leave them down so I can flip the seats up and down whenever I feel like it. But when someone sits back there it isn't so comfortable, so they go to push it up. It takes so much force that by the time you get it going, you're still pushing, and then the whole thing comes out and falls into the cargo area... :D

I always figured they were in a fixed position since i've never been able to pull them up or out. Good thing mine were already all the way down when I bought it lol.
