Hi All,

Just joined today and glad to be here! I have been searching for the answer to my problem and have not found the exact thing I'm looking for, so I'm posting it here.

The problem is with my rear liftgate glass lock. It randomly unlocks itself when I get in the car and turn it on. I can hear it unlatching sometimes 5 - 10 times in a row, just click click click. I get out, close the glass, it locks then I try to drive away, it unlatches again. I get back out, repeat the procedure and try to run back and drive away. Sometimes I can drive off before it does it again, sometimes I just drive with it open! It seems to stop when the car is actually driving or it is off and the doors are locked.

My question is: What could be causing this and can I fix it myself?

your advice is appreciated!

Rear hatch lock

This sounds like a bad relay repeatedly activating the lock solenoid. The relays should be located on the fuse panel (black cube)As the problem is occurring you can either hear or feel the relay clicking. If you can't hear it just put a finger on each relay and you can feel them click. When/if you find a bad one just wiggle it straight out and replace it.You don't have to buy the Ford part, they are available at auto parts stores.

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like there is a bad ground or power wire someplace. When you start the car do you normally have your foot on the brake? If so then one of the tail lights might be jumping the switch and causing havoc on the lock. I would start with pulling the fuse first and go from there
