2004 Ford Explorer
Glad to be here. Let me explain my situation. I have a 2004 explorer, 4.0 that I have had since 2005. Has 130,000 miles been a great vehicle. Last week parked in drive on Friday evening. Saturday temp got to around 15 degrees. Didn't try to start until Sunday. Battery was completely down. Took battery to have checked needed replacing so bought one and put it in no start. Didn't try to turn over. Took starter off had checked and it was fine. Put it back on. Checked all fuses and relays I could find. Found 1 20A fuse for high beam relay.Haven't replaced yet. I have 2 keys I have had from day one. When I put key in turn to on theft light on dash starts blinking fast. After about a minute starts flashing code 6 times. I was told it probably is PATS out of whack. Now 1 of my keys won't lock or unlock door. I tried to do the 8 times turning on and off with key in still don't lock or unlock. Is there anything I am missing or could check before I call a wrecker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As far as me I'm just old gas man waiting for retirement. Thanks Mike

Reprogram

I was afraid of that. Thanks

This may be of some help.

Check ALL fuses.

The one that supplies power to the PATS is a secret. Not that pulling the right fuse would allow you to start the car. But if the PATS is not getting power the PCM will not allow it to start. The actual "no start" is handled by the PCM not the PATS module.

So your blown headlight fuse may be the source.

There is no way to circumvent the PATS. For good reason.

But you can at least eliminate the simple stuff before your off to the dealer.

For example the cigarette lighter fuse also powers the "anti theft light" but not the PATS.

Want to thank you. My '04 sat in garage for a year. Decided to get it fixed. Called locksmith came out reprogrammed 90 bucks. Cranked right up been driving ever since. Thanks you saved me bunch of money. Marshall
