2005 Sport Trac
Hi, I'm a new member to this awesome forum - first post - that just bought my first Sport Trac ... 2005 XLT.

The truck is in great shape except the airbag light is always on.
Anyone know the fix for this or even just disable it?
I really don't care if the bag works or not.

Thanks

when you turn the key on, keep an eye on the air bag light. it should be flashing for a while before it goes solid. it's actually flashing a code.
for example:

flash, flash, flash followed by off for a few seconds, flash, flash, flash,
would be code 33. it will do this for all codes stored in sequence and do it 3 or 4 times.

so. what's your flashout code?

Hey, we may be getting somewhere. It flashes 5 times then once ... five times then once. It does it three times then stops, waits a bit the goes always on. You ever seen that before?

51=Driver Safety Belt Buckle Switch Circuit Resistance Out Of
Range or Driver Safety Belt Buckle Switch Circuit Short To Ground.

Examine the wiring under the seat to the seat belt buckle. Probably either disconnected or pinched.

Thank you very much ncranchero!

Problem solved - the connector under the seat was disconnected.

Seems the previous owner didn't want to hear the seatbelt chime.

Good thing he wasn't in a bad wreck or he'd be hearing chimes and soft music when the bags didn't deploy.

Glad you fixed it!

If it continues, it may be the clock spring (wiring harness) in the steering column.
