I'm new here. I have a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 4x4 Flex fuel. Before I drop the ball and purchase a motor I was needing a little info. The purchase motor is out of a 2008 Ford Ranger. Is there any thing I need to watch out for. Been reading through the threads on engine swaps. I guess what I'm looking for is the go ahead. Thanks guys.

Check all of the harness connections between the engines. In some cases manifolds have to be swapped to ensure you have the correct sensors, in the right locations etc...

Thanks Rick. The best I can understand from searching here is tear in down to the long block and put all my stuff over on to it.

Be sure to get as much wiring as possible. Even some of the same ranger motors had subtle wiring changes or plug styles occasionally.
