new mods

Its really not a positive mod on your model. Since you already have a decent MAF. But i got mine at www.explorerexpress.com

On your 99 Explorer your stock MAF sensor housing is pretty large to begin with; if you buy an aftermarket MAF the diameter won't be much larger than what you have.
That's why redrig says it won't matter much on your truck. If I were you I would look into other mods first, like throttle body and exhaust.

the 99 explorer has the iat built into the maf so you will need to splice the harness and add an iat

I got my MAF sensor and it is for a 91 explorer. Does that matter? Im also in the process of ordering a single program chip so hopefully i can intstal all this sometime next week.

that is a good question redrig. The only thing I can think of offhand is that the 91 trucks did not have EGR, and the 91 trucks had 5 less horsepower. Your 94 truck does have EGR and 5 more horses. I don't know if the MAF affects the EGR. I don't think it does.

I also don't know if having 5 more horses means a slightly different computer program. I don't think it does.I think the 5 hp was through the casting of the heads/ports. Don't quote me on that though..

I bet you'll be ok with the 91 MAF.
Eventually, though, it would help you to go with an aftermarket MAF, for the increased diameter alone, like a Pro-M/Granitelli (they're the same).

Mike was that the one you got from Explorer Express???

Yes this is the aftermarket 70mm from explorer express.

I ordered single program chip to run high octane today. Hopefully sometime next week i can install it. I will post with the results.

Im installing my throttle body and i cant get the positioning sensor screws out there starting to round out. Can someone tell me the trick to get these out. All i could find searching was that someone had the same problem but i couldnt find how they did it.

just get a dremel and cut them off however if the tps is still original i would just get a new one chances are it has flatspots ny now

Thanks, but i just broke them loose with visegrips. :) Wish me luck.

What do i do with the new bushing? Do i replace the old one with it or does this go over the old one? The old one is different.

Well i installed the throttle body and MAF. Everything went pretty smooth. I did the IAC adjustment and it idles ok i guess, 600rpm in drive and about 700rpm in park. Now to the good stuff, it made a very good improvement all around but i see the most at top end power. It seems like it doesnt want to stop pulling now. I should be able to get a better opinion in the next few days.

that is the best way to do it all at once then it feels like it was worth all the money i spent

Wait till you get your chip in, and reset the comp with 93 octane gas...then you'll really notice it pulling good, especially at speed like you said.

The chips in and it runs very well. It didnt help a bunch on take off but from moving and stompin on it WOW does it ever go. It sounds awesome and it pulls quick and high into the rpm's.
