Yes im very happy. I can only imagine its going to run better and better... I only have 20 miles on her.
CONGRATS on your upcoming build!!!
Bet your excited. Good move on the stock stroke. The BB is great for unshrouding the valves, and true HP/TRQ gains with or without other mods. But yes I agree... nothing more durable than a stock bore and stroke. One thing that's on our side is that we will never rev these SUVs to 7,500 - 8,000 rpms and no clutch dumping... so they should hold just about anything we throw at them. But yes you will have some traction problems!!! lol
Yeah I am. I was going to order my SB about 1.5 months ago but I decided to wait a little while to time the arrival of it with my moving into the house I will be buying soon. It would be a total joke to attempt an engine pull/install in my current garage. lol. While we may not be planning to do clutch dumping launches or revving really high, we still will be putting more than our fair share of stress on the connecting rods and pistons through just making the power that we plan to. I was toying with the idea of going forged and saving $1,000 but I opted for billet just to play it safe so that if I ever decided to throw a big shot of nitrous on there to try for 10's that I would have the room to do so. As for traction problems? I have them now... hehe. Once you repulley/retune for 9 psi and get on the gas after the break in you should have worse traction problems than I do! hehe.
Yeah I cant wait to get my 2.3ax. That's when she's really going to wake up. The motor is optimally built at CR for 16psi and a NOS shot of around 75hp. Right now I have her at 5psi. She's tame but runs awesome. I haven't gotten past 4k yet but man do the cams start to wake up then

.
That 2.3 Whipple will really wake that combo up! Let alone the shot if nitrous.
Yeah tranny next for me. Yikeee (yeah right lol)
I feel ya, yay is code for PITA!!! hehe. I might still persue my original idea of swapping to a standalone 4R70W tranny instead. Only reason is because if I do encounter breakage it will be alot cheaper to replace or fix.
Before my build I would boost around 5.5psi.... I seem to have lost almost an entire point at about 4.5 + or so now... that just shows how much better this motor is flowing.
Gotta love that! Hopefully that M90 won't have too much a problem keeping up with the motor in the upper rev range. hehe.
This weekend will finally be the first time in an entire year that I can enjoy her and take her out to do my everyday things.
Oh another thing I LOVE... when she first started... a SMALL puff of smoke came out the tips... and that's it.... there is absolutely no smoke coming out ever now... solid solid build.
So have you decided what cams and heads?
