has anyone put rancho rs5000 shocks on their explorers, years 95-99. i have a 95 explorer sport and was going to get new shocks yesterday, but the guy at the 4x4 shop said i could not put them on the front becuase there is a special shock set up with a rod that is skinny and is between the loop and shock body. he said that it allows the steerign to be really tight, but a regular shock would get in the way. when i turned wheels fully, it did not get in the way. so if anyone has put on ranchos, or procomps, or anything to that nature, please let me know which ones and the actual part number. i appreciate the help.

Hi Gino, I can't really help you in the fit for a '95-'99 because I have a '91. But as for the shocks, I've had a set on including Rancho's steering stabilizer for about three years now. I like the firmness in the ride and the handling on corners. It's a thousand percent improvement of stock. Most members don't like the firmness of the shock, but I give it a thumbs up for value and performance. You might consider the RS-9000 which is adjustable.

I don't know about the RS5000. However, I have been looking into replacing the stock shocks on my '95 with something that could improve the ride but offered good off-road support when I needed it. I have almost decided on the RS9000, which are 5-way adjustable. I know these will fit a '95.
