Bought a silver 2001 XLT 4wd with 4.0l and 85k miles on the odometer. Replaced front suspension worn parts, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, tires, shocks. It drives great, now. I just need to get it to stop leaking oil. Previous owner gave up after having hired wrench replace the noisy timing chain tensioners and water pump. Crack in radiator tank on one side looks like it came from said mechanic (I use the term loosely) dropping it on end. I might JB Weld and reinforce it (anybody suceed with that?). Oil runs down on everything from the valve covers. The bolts are torqued down tight, but it makes a smokin' mess. Is there something technical to installing valve cover gaskets that won't leak on this thing that a paid mechanic can't grasp? I want to keep the truck for as long as I can get parts for it - or if rust wants to take it away from me. It's my weekend car, and pulls my boat, not a mudding vehicle. I am looking for someone to get a return on their invest in professional manuals for the vehicle, too.
