Ok guys I need your help. I have a Pioneer DEH-P550MP head unit, which is 50wattsx4. I also got Infinity Reference speakers, that says that the max power rating is 180 watts, and that the recommend watts are 2-60. My problem is that, they sounded pretty good for a few weeks and now the right front is makeing a weird noise. This noise is not constant it just happens on certain songs on certain notes. Its almost like a crackling noise. What could it be? I hope the speaker isnt blown cause I will be *issed. I dont see how it would get blown. Maybe its just the cd I am listening too. XM radio does it not, so far not impressed with XM but that another story.

It could just be bad wiring, I know mine made an inconsistant crackling hit, such as if I turned a corner sharp occasionally or if a song with a decent amount of bass came on. Because when it hit hard it jarred the wires around and didn't have a clean connection. I have since resoldered them and all is well and it sounds great, so perhaps you should check the wiring to the speaker itself. I highly doubt it is blown, with these new decks alot have auto shut off before you start breaking stuff.

Also, I agree, XM is overrated. I'd prefer to just have an MP3 player and only hear the 180 songs that I want.

Are the speakers under any type of warranty? Let the place you bought them at check them out for you and see if they can determine the problem, but it does sound like you cranked them up and maybe cracked them. It's a possibility.

I refuse to take them back to the place I got them at. I got them from circuit city and I refuse to ever deal with the roadshop again!!! This is what happened, When I got my head unit I got the wrong harness and had to return one of them, I returned it no probably and then went to the road shop and asked them if they had to factory amp bypass harness, The guy that worked there looked at me funny and tried to give me the harness I already had which was, the harness with the line level thing on it. I told him that I already had it and online i saw the bypass harness, and he proceeds to tell me that they dont make such a thing and that I would have to rewire the whole system. Yea *ucking right. I knew more than he did and I dont get paid to install systems. So I go home and proceed to install my headunit with out the amp bypass. So upon installing It I hooked up a wire wrong So I called the roadshop to ask the guy and told him what i did and he says "I cant keep telling you how to install anything, thats why i get paid...." then he says that he cant tell me for insurance reasons. and then hangs up on me.yea ok. I understand that that is why he gets paid, but he could at least help me out. The guy was a complete ***hole. And I dont really crack it i just turn it up so I can hear it with the window open.

well the pearson u delt with probably doesnt have any formal training...i worked at best buy and they dont really try very hard to train people

but if theres something wrong with the speaker u gota return it dude..even if u dont like the store think of it as u are taking money from them or something

and they cant tell u how to install things becasue of legal issues..they have to be really really carefull if u lit ur car on fire and burned down an appt building they would be liable because he told u to do something...

but it does sound like the speaker is faulty so if it were me id go back in there and get another set of speakers...

i got them feb 21 do u think its to late to take them back

Circuit Citys (at least in my area) have a 30 day guarantee so I think you're out of luck unless you purchased the extended warranty. If you want to wait longer, Infinitys have a 1 yr manufacturers warranty and you can send the speakers in and have them repaired. I had a similar problem when I bought my Kappas from an area specialty shop, and found that Infinity had great customer service and had my speakers back within a month free of charge (except S&H).
