new speakers

just looking at upgrading the speakers in the explorer, has anyone used these? will they sound ok with a stock HU?

I have the older models...they sound ALRIGHT with a HU and an untreated baffle/door

They really come to life with heavily damped baffles/doors and an about 50-80 watts per speaker.

I used to have mine powered by the HU and with the door stock. After amplifying them and four layers total of dampening on each door...they sound AMAZING.

I plan on redoing the tweeter crossover on them though...a 12db/octave slope would suite them much better.
