Picked it up at lunch today (now my back's killing me ;)). I have three fobs (an obsession for me) without spending any more $$. Two "Ford" and one "ST".

Spent the time after work putting all my "stuff" back in (gotta love the Florida heat). The radar detector's back in, not sure what I want to do with the dash cam, almost a "must" these days.

Congratulations Mike. A great looking vehicle.

Love it. I have a 20 red one as well and still smile every time I see her. I actually changed the ford logo on front and back to red ( the Arizona sun has made it a little orange ) but I get asked a lot.

Sent you a PM.

Love it! Looks just like mine!

Thank you. For a long time I was leery of red cars, considering my heavy right foot (learned from my Dad). I do like this one - it doesn't give me the uneasy feeling the Limited did ('course it's only been a day ;)) I have a bunch of dress-up stuff coming, the low-profile vent shades are here, waiting for Saturday (assuming Alex has no effect this far north).

Currently the MPG sucks, but idling in the driveway will do that. I love the grip and handling. The ride's a bit tight. I'm OK with that, but the wife's more comfort-minded.

I discovered the purpose of the socket-looking gadget in the glove box: it's the wheel-lock adapter. Sure enough, there's a theft-resistant lug nut on every wheel (discovered when I was prepping to add the splash guards to the rear (easier to remove the wheels for splash-guard installation). Since wheel theft is a minimal risk here, I bought four lug nuts from the dealer today. Since we're going to DC next month, I think I'll leave the theft protection in place 'til we get back.

That's interesting - did you put the factory splash guards on or an aftermarket product?

Aftermarket, rescued from the Limited before I dropped it off.

I think the dealer should have left the original 4 lug nuts with the vehicle. All the vehicles I've leased from my dealership have had the wheel lock lugs installed and the replaced ones were put in the package that the wheel lock ones came in and put in the glove box along with the removal tool in a nice little pouch. You shouldn't have had to buy replacements. The ones the dealer sold you could very well have been the ones that came with your Explorer. :D

No, they were in parts bags. This car went through two Ford dealers and a Nissan store before it got here. I'm probably lucky the lock was there and that I noticed it. There was no book or documentation (so I kept the packet from my Limited). My Mazda had locks, too. Those lugs were in a bag along with all sortsa stuff. It was new, though.

I did find an interesting item in a door pocket: an OBDII gadget that apparently logs speed and connects via Bluetooth. Wonder what tales it can tell . I did get the vent shades and splash guards on today.

Some years ago, I took my Ram in for front-end work. I didn't notice the missing key until rotation time came around. I had to hammer a socket over the damned lug nuts to get 'em off. I was not a happy boy that day.

That would explain it - I put front and rear OEM splash guards on our Timberline quite easily without taking the wheels off. Plenty of room for a quarter inch ratchet with a standard length socket.

Socket?! Socket!? I used my trusty DeWalt 20V. Too old for that there socket stuff. Should've used my trusty rechargeable ratchet, I guess. 'Course, getting the second rear wheel back on nearly killed me, and it ain't even hot yet.
