audi is gonna have stock bose deck and doors seperates, audiocontrol eqx, jbl gto series 5 channel and 2 8" subs hidden in spare tire well (comptely hidden)

the 9500s are certainly good subs and are very reasonably priced aswell. probably the best all around sub mtx has ever produced if you ask me

but in my experiences they dont sound any better than the corresponding RE product and certainly wont hit as high on the meter. Nor will they have as good of customer service as RE.

The 9500 series isnt a bad choice by any means but i think theres better out there IMNO

offtopic - I used to have a 99.5 A4.
Before I ripped out the crap bose system completely, I tapped into the wiring, bypassed the amp and ran my apline era g320 sound processor to my amps. I finally got tired of that and installed my 7949 headunit.

the factory bose head does have some internal settings you can adjust. there is info on the audi forum. damn common ground wiring to the speakers is wierd.

I have a set of mbquart rings to mount 5 1/4 in the front 4" holes, never used.

hey, which forum should i check out for help with that. i have "the disc" which as some wire colors for the car but its far from complete. i'm intending to try out amping the stock door speakers with that jbl amp for a while to see how that goes... hopefully that will be enough for me and will keep up with those 8s. My knowledge is real limited when it comes to audi so far- i did post on vwvortex.com though about oil changes etc. and which oils to use/if i needed any tools and that went well. are the rings you have plastic? i may take them off your hands, but i hope that i don't get the urge to tear into the car too much. i can't believe that bose system was an $1800 option in 99. its good, but far from the level of even a well balanced aftermarket system that could be had for 800-1000 (but thats bose for you)

I bought the car brand new. They didnt have one in stock w/ the quattro and sport package, w/o the crap bose. So, I spent 1200 bucks on it and ripped it out.

The headunit has plenty of output voltage. I bought the audiocontrol unit (i cant remember the name) that boosts output voltage up to 8 volts. I thought I would need it as my eq worked best w/ 4 volt input, but the head had plenty output, so I took the audiocontrol unit back. 1" tweets will fit in place of the factory tweets.

didnt know they put a x.. 8 in to production yet.

i believe they will have them after this redesign they just started of the x..

either way- i'm doing the cheap 10s with my 107 wrms per channel (the gtos)

yea when he new XXXs come out they will probably be in 10,12,15, and 18 released right away. There isnt much market for a kickass 8 inch woofer though so im not sure if they would release one.
