Hi yall. I joined up to see what I can learn about explorers and similar midsized Fords. I already own a full sized Bronco, but the girlfriend is wanting something a bit more her sized but still 4WD. She's decided on either a Bronco II or an Explorer. Hopefully I'll be able to glean a lot from this site to help her pick one that's going to be reliable enough that I won't be rebuilding it every other day for her.
I do prefer to work on Pre-96' models, but I'm open to the newer stuff as well. Any model years or drivetrain combos I should avoid?
This will be her first vehicle so the drivetrain needs to be reliable, so that is my biggest concern. She wants 4WD so we can take both my Bronco and her vehicle on trail rides together, though I think mine will be the main rig.
I don't think we're going to do anything crazy to whatever vehicle she chooses, but here is mine.
