Hi Everyone,

I am in the market for a new vehicle and wanted to reach out and hear some thoughts about the 2016 Ford Explorer. I have always been a Ford fan but i am between the Explorer and the 2015 Jeep Cherokee.

I have been doing research and reading article. I found this one i liked.

I wanted to get some thoughts. I would appreciate anything you guys have to say!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

I moved your thread to our "Stock 2011 - 2016 Ford Explorer Discussion" subforum where owners of the new Explorers can give you some input.

I own a 2015 Limited and the refresh on the 2016 has made some nice improvements.

I will start by saying that I love it. Ride quality is nice. I think it is the best looking vehicle on the road. I think MFT is great although I did not have the struggles of the early adopters. I chose the Limited for the comfort while more sprited drivers rave about the Sport. The Limited (3.5V6) has more than enough power for me.

I would read through the threads here. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people who have shared there experiences. I review all of them and pay attention, but do not dwell, on the problems others have had. The ex is not perfect but I won't hesitate to buy another.

Hope this helps - good luck

Save yourself some grief. I traded in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with about 6,300 miles on it for my new 2015 Explorer 4wd a couple of weeks ago. The nine speed transmission in that Jeep is causing some owners a lot of problems. Some new vehicles actually have had to have their transmissions replaced by Chrysler. Some twice and some vehicles are being bought back due to problems. The nine speed is not ready for prime time. My Cherokee was back to the dealer numerous times for various issues during the little over a year I had it. It drove "nervously" like the nine speed and the 3.2L V6 didn't get along together. This is from my direct experience with that vehicle. I was glad to get rid of it and just love my Explorer. Sometimes new vehicles will have problems, but rarely do you see constant posts about transmission replacements and shifting problems with a new vehicle like I have seen about the Jeep Cherokee.

Hello,

I don't currently have an Explorer but I owned one about 12 years ago with no complaints. I have owned Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Dodge, Chevrolet, Honda and Nissan vehicles. I have driven Jeep, Toyota and Lexus vehicles. My current ride, an 09 Ford Edge has had -0- issues, the only vehicle I have EVER owned with no issues-I bought it new. I currently have a 16 Explorer Platinum on order. Your best bet is to drive all models you have an interest. Feel free to read/listen to all of the drivel on the Internet, but you need to make your decision on how a vehicle "feels" to you.
As an example, my Edge got terrible reviews from the car magazines, while the Murano (my wife's vehicle) got really good reviews. To me, the Edge drives better, rides better and all the controls are intuitive versus the Murano, which I have issues with (navigation, wipers, ect.).
I want to say YES, buy a Ford, but your perception may be way different than mine.
I hope this helps,

TW
