hello everyone
just picked up my first explorer,a 2000 xlt 4X4. my problem is the trans surges in nutral and no reverse. is a total rebuild necessary? it appears to be a common problem for the 2000 and up explorers.thanks in advance for any and all help

Welcome to the forum! If you have no reverse at all it sounds like you might have to go the route of a rebuild. Most likely no one ever did a fluid and filter change on the vehicle and this is the repercussions of it. How many miles are on the vehicle and what condition is it in? Good luck with the truck!
