I am picking up this 93 Sport in 2 weeks. After paying $1,000 for it my wife is okaying spending another $500 on it. But the catch is no more costly mods until after we buy or build a house this summer. It has 5.5" lift and 35's. I will be repairing the broken tab on pasenger side radius arm and re-hanging exhaust.

What else should I look at doing to it?

Is there a way to check the gearing on it with out removing gears?

Ideas:

Roof Basket w/ spare tire carrier
Better steps on sides
Steering stabilizer shock
Rancho 9000 all around
KKM intake
Winch (cheap one obviously)
Rear bumper mounted spare tire carrier
CB
Tiltmeter
GPS

What do you mean check the gearing?

I'd get some shocks and remove the '4x4' stickers! :D

I don't know if the gearing is still stock or whether it has been changed to maybe 4.10's or 3.73's etc.

Ahh.. that one is easy. Jack it up, spin the wheel one rotation, and count how many turns the drive shaft made. One wheel turn will equal whatever your ratio is, 4.1 turns, 3.7 turns, and so on.. :D

Get a winch... and hope the rear end is an open diff... then lincoln lock it.
Pete

yeah do the above mods in your list... and toss a locker in the rear.... then just leave it alone.... but check out the bearings a lot... the d35s had bearing problems with 35" tires... also, get manual hubs if it doesnt already have them.....

Good call on the bearings. I had forgot about that. I believe it did have manual warn hubs, but push button 4x4. Seems Strange to me. Yea I would like to do all in the list but limited to just 500 for now.

Well checking the gearing is gonna be easier than I thought. I'll just mark the driveshaft and count.

Yes remove decal 4x4 sticker and add "SERIOUS EXPLORATIONS" window sticker. Also the seats will be coming out and I will be putting in some stock vinyl seats out of an XLT that I have. Easier to clean and not worry about getting dirty. Plus now the XLT can get rid of the darn seat covers.

A lincoln lock is cheap and irreversable. Maybe I'll be lucky and its open, more than likely its LS.

Great X, I agree get rid of the sticker. Also consider a locker. Looks good otherwise.

Steps, Kodiak makes some really nice retracable steps, but they cost $200 each. :)

if that runs halfway decently, then $1,000 seems like a good price for a 4x4!

I would have to agree with you. Especially since its lifted, got 35 in tires, light bar w/lights and the brushguard. I would remove the brushguard and replace it with a pre-runner later on. I don't like chrome on 4x4's especially brushguards. If it were black I might be able to live with it.

35s with just the 5.5 no body lift??? Cool are the fenders cut like hella or is it just tall enough without a bl?

Well the pictures are in the first few posts. Doesn't look like a BL was installed. The other thing is everyone out at our plant seems to think he had a 6" Skyjacker lift on it. It doesn't appear as though there was much cutting done if any at all. I can't tell, but the flares and tupperware are all removed so maybe that was just enough.

I found a guy on Northern 4x4 web board that says he knows a lot about the truck and that is has been around for a while in its lifted state. So hopefully he can tell me something I don't know about it.

cool because i just oreder a 6 superlift for my 93 sport white with black bottom and the little red accent line and i would love to run 35s but i don't like the look of a body lift . I would mind doing a litte fender trimming but i don't want hack majorly at them

And what did the Superlift cost you? like 1240?
Did you check out the pics? Does it look like a BL installed to you or any major trimming took place?

no not at all it looks like if anything just a litte triming on the back side of the front to fenders and thats it no body lift no major cuts nothing crazy like that. The lift i order cost a little over 2 installed with the best of the best they make for the lift

Man I feel lucky that this came around for me. Saves me a lot of money, since I was going to lift my 93 Sport and get it off-road ready. My wife was like well spend a little over 2,000 to get lift and tires for my Sport or buy this one for 1,000. It was a no brainer.

yeah if i lived close i would have jumper on it and just parted the to as one and made a real sweet looking rig

dude, from looking at that x ur getting a great deal, wish deals like that were arond here!!!!

Gowdamn yougot a sweet ass deal!

Save the $500 until something else breaks.....it's gonna...02 sensors, radius arm bushings, shocks, brakes, etc........likely it is getting up there in miles and if they are willing to let it go that cheap I bet it has not been babied!!

You beat me to it, I saw that sucker and was willing to drive to Alaska to get it........

Alaska Jack

I remember seeing it forsale down on a used car dealership on 5th AVE a while back. The price then was $5,500. It definatly has a 5.5" lift. If the engine is good then SCORE! I remember the interior being kinda on the ruff side. But hey, with 35's I would expect the interior to be a bit messy, INTENTIONALY!!

Have you been driving it through Eagle River recently?
