95' explorer
Im not too knowledgeable about cars but id like to be =)..

Recently picked up a 95' explorer for about the cost of a playstation 3.. needless to says its needed some work done. replaced a lot so far, rear leaf spring shackles, shocks, brakes, rotors, passenger side axle, driver side upper control arm.... And Finally..! i can almost do a freaking allignment!

Question is, im going to get some new tires with the allignment and i dont know where to start. This is my first car that i cared about and i need to make it last for the mid term, so i want to make sure i make the right choice. basically i dont just want to buy the cheapest tire that fits, and i dont want to trust a salesman on the issue, so whats your favorite brand of tire?

some info that might help, 95 explorer, 4door, stock rims. sorry I dont know the weight off hand, i dunno if thats crucial.. i live in temperate climate city area. (nyc to be exact) also most of my milage is highway commuting and grocery runs. Any words or linkage would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You might try searching in the wheel and tire section and see if there isn't already a thread covering the topic.

I got a set of goodyear wranglers on one and bought a midgrade set of dunlops for the other one. The dunlops are basically just a highwy tire but they give you a super smooth ride because they are not aggressive. The good part is they were on sale for 400 bucks installed. I've put about 20000 miles on them and they still ride like new. I switched them over to the AWD I just got.
