I just got a remanufactured transmission and I need to know how to mark the torque converter studs in relationship to the fly wheel. I know you are supposed to mark one of them before you take he tranny out, but with a noes torque converter how do you know which stud to line up where?

Help would be greatful, and I do t have time to to do a good search as I'm ready to put the tranny in now.

studs are equi-distant. I've never marked a converter stud. :) just make sure the converter is seated into the front pump gears or you will have problems.

I marked it, just for safety. I used white out and made a line from the flywheel, to the outer edging of the crankshaft housing on the trans. Even though I didn't need to, I lined it up with the lines. Sorta like taking it to the dealer if ya know what I mean...:D

factory balance

The reason to mark the relative position of the flexplate/flywheel to the torque converter prior to disassembly and reassembly is to maintain the factory balance. When replacing either the torque converter or the flexplate/flywheel there is no established balance to maintain. What you did is the best you can do without going to a machine shop with balancing capability for the assembly.
