sweet ride, i'm jealous, there is a yamaha 660 quad racer, i know a guy is trying to sell, he wants me to buy it, but can't decide if i want a quad or street bike.
They arnt street legal (at least none of the ones I've ever seen) and at least in MN you don't need any special license to ride them. Here you just have to register them to drive them on state trails but you don't need a motorcycle or quad endorsement or anything. They are a blast, have fun!
I'd go with a quad. I've been riding since I was 5 years old so about 19 years (that kinda makes me feel old ). Personally I enjoy trail riding so a bike isn't my first choice, on the quad your much much more stable and you sit lower, which is importand for me at least since i'm pretty tall (6'4") and most of the trails I ride are in the woods, sometimes they're not even trails lol and tree limbs tend to hang low.
It doesn't require any license. My atv is a 2004 Kawasaki KFX400 (same as the Suzuki LTZ-400) it ran about $5900 out the door...then all the aftermarket stuff ran about $1500. I don't regret a bit of it though! Thanks for all the compliments.
I love my KFX. It reacts good to performance mods (currently adding new cams, carb, valve springs, and CDI). It handles easily, has reverse, and is very well balance. I also have a 2004 Yamaha YFZ450 in my garage and while its a faster than my KFX its not as comfortable, has no reverse, and costs about $1500 more. If you sink that extra $1500 into your KFX or Z you will keep up with the YFZ. I dont think you can go wrong with the Z400. Good luck.
