Just had the auto transmission in my '92 Sport rebuilt and the rig runs great: mileage has jumped from 13 to 16. But, I noticed that the shop did not disconnect the battery and reset the computer since all my radio presets were still good. My question: is it necessary to reset the computer after having the trans overhauled? I know it's easy to do and will probably do it anyway but was wondering if anyone else has done this and seen any difference. Thanks and I really appreciate this forum: there's a lot of good info and advice to be read.

If it was a good shop they probably did disco the battery, but probably put a "setting saver" on the truck. Though this would still keep the computer program.

As long as the truck is idling ok then let it be. After 50-100 miles or so it will relearn anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I thought they might have used something to save the radio settings since they do this all the time and must encounter many vehicles that would lose some radio/seat/mirror or other memory settings. The rig runs great so I don't think I'll bother with the reset until I have some other reason to do it.
