Hey everyone,
The other day I went out to turn the truck around and surprise! no reverse gear. I did some research on here and it sounds like a reverse band break issue from the notorious transmissions in these 4.0 trucks.
What would you suggest from the following options for fixing it?
1) Get a junkyard transmission (30 day warranty if you are lucky but cheapest option)
2) Get the tranny re-built (no warranty or minimal one in most cases)
3) Buy a completely re-built transmission with a 3year 100k full warranty (safest option but also most expensive)
Selling the truck is not an option for me.
I am curious what you would do in the same situation and would love to hear from anyone who has had this same issue.
The truck is a 98 4 door Eddie Bauer 4.0 SOHC 4WD with roughly 148,000 miles on it.
Thanks in advance for any help
