I'm new to the forum and a new Explorer owner; or is it the other way around? She's a 2002, and hasn't accepted a name, yet; so I'll call her my X, for the time being. She's actually the next door neighbor's X. Right off, I put $2K into the differential and replaced the RF wheel hum, myself. Got $4K in her right off, which leaves me pretty short on funds.
Yesterday, she got a little hot around the capacitor; melted insulation on exposed portion of a wire that vanishes into the wire harness, where it undoubtely has shorted out to something else. OMG! I don't dare drive her anywhere but the nearest garage.... but I'll look for an appropriate thread for this problem.
