Its not often that I start a post, I usually stalk and offer assistance when I can. I have had my Explorer for close to 4 years now, and I have only wheeled it once. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that, because for a long time, wheeling was practically my life. The very reason I ended up with this Explorer was so that my wife and kids could come wheeling with me. (Prior to this rig, all of my wheelers were regular cab trucks) Because of time and money, it just hasn't happened. We took it out one time and shanked the trans. I have the trans, I just hadn't had the time. There are other things I want to change /modify on the truck to better suit my needs/tastes. So, here are my main goals for this truck this year;
1. Replace the transmission. Can't do anything with a truck that doesn't drive. I also want to install a trans temp gauge while it's apart. (Ideally I would like to swap in a manual trans, but the auto will have to work for now)
2. Snorkel. All of the inner fenders were removed for the SAS and the air filter gets plugged easily.
3. Front bumper (again). This will be the third front bumper on it since I've owned it. The current one is incredibly stout, but has a horrible approach angle.
4. Weld on bead lock kit.
5. Wheel the snot out of it at least once this year.
So there ya have it, nothing too crazy, eh?
