Newb audio question

You sure that flea market amp is good?
If you are using the factory 12 it doesnt come from the deck. It is a brown red from the fuse box. The 5v remote is violet red.
If the second one is going into safety you have something wired wrong. Also, why are you using a converter? The factory deck will have low levels outs on it to the factory amp unless i am mistaken. The factory deck also has a built in cross over so you will be missing some lows if you use the rear speaker outputs instead of the sub inputs. They should be green white for - and violet green for +. The last Black Blue is your chassis gnd. A link to fords wiring diagrams. Password and user name are both tech.

Best bet for the remote line would be to get a hold of a relay and use the 5v remote from the deck to enable a 12 v feed off the supply line to amp, through the relay and to the to the amp remote in. Unless your amp will detect the 5v remote then dont bother.

If you follow those steps it should work just like the factory setup. No screwing around with only some speakers working when the key is off.

No im using the wiring from the factory amp plug. The brown red, black blue, purple red, and the green white, purple green. Just using the purple red to key on the amp will not power up, but if i use the remote on from the converter the amp has power.

Don't run the signal through the converter. It already low level. You also need to run it to the rca jacks on the amp.that signal is too low for the high inputs.

I dont have the low level plug for the amp to run the wires into the amp. Is there any other way to use the wires with out using the converter?

Ok stupid newb question do I add both + wires together and both - wires together? I have one set of wires and the rca would be 2? Do I just run both + and both - to the one wire I have?

That is a mono feed, so you only need one input. You wont loose anything running one feed as the deck puts all the lows on to that one channel. One of the RCA jacks on the amp will be a mono feed, usually the white but it doesn't matter if you are bridging it to one sub. Solder your green white to the wire of the rca jack that goes to the outside, and the violet green to the wire that goes to the inside. Also, if your amp is going into safety make sure you have the bridge to the speaker set up properly. Wiring that backwards will short the finals and cause it to go into over current protection.

Thanks for the input I will try it. If it does not work I am going to replace the head unit and start over from there.

I know it might not be in your budget, but replacing the HU, speakers, etc is the way to go. My entire system (including backup cam) took me three days to complete, couldn't be any happier.

If you do decide to replace the HU make sure you buy the cam adapter and don't slash the wires. That way you still get all the signals you need for it to work properly. 40 bucks will save you hours if not days of headaches in the long run.

I haven't quit swapped out to the cam adapter, but can attest to the headaches in searching for a correct light switching source. It's a PITA and still doesn't work correctly. My NAVI also still does not have VSS signal so it cannot detect speed. I'll eventually swap the harness out.

I have not had time to try to splice the rca cables to the factory wires yet. I do plan to redo the whole stereo this winter. I get my bonus the first week of december, guess this year i am gonna spend my play money portion of it on the stereo, and new tires for the trac.
