Not so newbie on the forum, but newbie with cars.

Not being English my native language and living outside the US, plus not knowing much about cars and parts. I find it difficult to identify parts when I read on the forum.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction, or give me a hand with this. I need to info (graphics) indicating the names and location of all the parts, or at least the main parts of a explorer.

Thanks for your help.

can you buy a haynes manual or a chiltons repair manual where you are?

also, you have internet access... check out autozone's website www.autozone.com they have some online manuals relating to the explorer

i'm in Baja, Mexico. People here are not accustomed to using manuals, unless they're mechanics, and only some do.

I can do the simple stuff on my own, like belts, filters, plugs, oil, and few other simple things you do on a regular basis. I know there is other stuff that you don't do all the time but it's still simple to do also, if you have the tools, and a pretty good idea of what needs to be done.

That's why I'm here, but it frustrates me not understanding completely what some parts are and where they're phsycally located. I think, that If don't have a better option i'll go with the autozone manual.

Thanks for replying amigo

If you ever have engine trouble or other problems just try to describe it and we will give our best advice. Its very hard to just go out and name parts. I only get familer with certain parts when they fail. Other than that I dont know all the parts my self but I do all the work on my truck.

Usually running a search here for a part name you dont understand will eventually lead you to a thread with a picture of it....

On certain parts we have pictures in the threads, but there are many that everyone seems to know what they are except me. I have no background on mechanics, so a name doesn't tell me much sometimes, even if i look it up in the spanish.english dictionary.

For example, I'm not sure what a ball joint is, or a bearing, cam shaft. I may have seen it and probably know it;s function, but it;s name in English or spanish doesn't tell me much.

Thanks for your replies
